Niepoort 20 yeras Old

Grape varieties: Touriga Nacional,Touriga Franca,Tinto Cão,Tinta Francisca,Tinta Amarela,Sousão,Tinta Roriz.

Vinification: Tawnies with an age indication of “20 years” are blended from different wines with an average age of 20 years. Prolonged ageing in small wooden casks gives it its characteristic tawny color. The main characteristics of an aged tawny are the complexity of the aromas, freshness and a persistent, refined bouquet. After dinner, aged tawny goes well with cheeses and especially chocolate-based desserts. It can also be drunk as an aperitif, served at room temperature or slightly chilled. Niepoort produces 10, 20 and 30 year old tawny. The skillful ageing and blending of the different tawny ports is the art of master blender José Nogueira. Winemaking: The tawnies are aged in small old oak barrels (550 l) in the cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia for several years. The balanced marriage of the different characteristics and different ages is the art of Niepoort’s Master Blender, José Nogueira.

Tasting Notes: Brick red/brown appearance interspersed with orange tones with good depth of color. Fabulous aromas of candied fruit and dried apricots that emerge on the palate, along with a well-integrated and smooth nutty alcoholic character on the finish.

Recommendation: We recommend serving at a temperature of 16 to 18ºC.

Food pairing: Sweet suggestions: Dried fruit, nuts, almonds, raisins, peaches, apricots, etc. Egg-based desserts, tarts with nuts, coffee, vanilla. Slightly chilled, it can also be used as an aperitif.
