Coppery brown in color with a slight golden halo. The primary aromas are elegant, rich and very delicate. Notes of rum and raisins, cloves, nutmeg and a touch of ground black pepper. Plums, quinces and apricots dance on the palate while lemon and orange zest provide a freshness of acidity to balance the richness of the wine. Notes of burnt pineapple, passion fruit and lychee balance beautifully with toasted coconut, almonds and caramel. The texture and weight of the wine envelops the palate and finishes bright, fresh and balanced. The wine lingers for an eternity, beckoning you back for more.

Winemaking: Blended from rare wood-aged ports matured for five decades in oak barrels, Taylor’s Golden Age is a special collector’s edition released in very limited quantities. This 50-year-old Tawny was produced in the eastern regions of the Douro Valley, home to many of the finest vineyards and a traditional source of the longest-lasting wines. Before blending, the individual wines were aged in Taylor’s cellars in specially selected oak barrels reserved by the company’s team of expert coopers. After half a century in cask, this exceptional wine has reached its ‘Golden Age’ of maturity, at which point it achieves perfect balance, magical complexity and seductive softness and density.

Recommendation: The bottle should be kept upright, protected from light and at a cool, constant temperature. The wine benefits from being served slightly chilled, between 12ºC and 16ºC. Ready to drink. No decanting required.
Food pairing: An excellent accompaniment to many desserts. Goes well with flavors of figs, almonds and caramel. It is an excellent accompaniment to a crème brûlée or a dish of wild strawberries. It can also be enjoyed on its own at the end of a meal, with nuts or dried fruit.
